A chance to catch my breathe at work as the students get stuck into their exams this week and I can try and get ahead of the game with my lectures and seminar planning. Having said that, there'll be lot of marking coming my way mid-week.
The first few weeks of the Foundation course are often tricky in terms of teaching. New students from all kinds of educational backgrounds settling into a new place. A mixture of personalities with some students determined to prove they are the best in the room and others worried because they've been out of education for a year or more.
My students have covered a lot of ground in these first weeks although I'm hoping much of it was just revision of stuff they already knew, although it's probably the first time they're hearing it in English.
