Viewing prospects for 2013 R1 Lovejoy in the UK
- Currently only visible through big telescopes (shining at around magnitude 12).
- Comet Lovejoy will brighten to around 7th magnitude after the middle of November - probably bright enough for binoculars and small telescopes.
- It will be best seen in the hours before dawn over the next few months.
Where to look
During the next month the comet moves against the starry backgrounds of Monoceros (to the east of Orion) and into Canis Minor.
